WILPF is one of the few international women's peace organisations which has consistently played an important role in bringing critical issues to international attention.

It has evolved a unique way of addressing a broad range of contemporary human rights issues with both a practical and policy-directed approach, at local, national and international levels of decision making.

WILPF has been instrumental in contributing women's perspectives of human rights, peace and security to the processes of the United Nations, other international organisations and regional forums. It continues to promote an increasingly critical and comprehensive human security agenda: human rights, environmental protection, economic and social justice and peace.

Our work and vision acquire even more relevance in today's changing world. Peace and disarmament issues remain as critical as they were when WILPF was founded. Contemporary human rights issues are vast and complex and require persistent and co-ordinated advocacy for change. With its experience, multidisciplinary and pragmatic approach and access to a multicultural grassroots base through its Sections, WILPF is in a unique position to effect change.
