The long-standing Orpington Branch includes women from South East London and North West Kent. We generally meet monthly on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the Friends Meeting House in Petts Wood. We welcome non-members to these meetings where we have speakers, engage in discussions about our campaigns, and plan our activities.

Socialising and Fund Raising:
Orpington members celebrated WILPF’s 98th Birthday on 28th April with a fundraising lunch. Pam and Mike Hobson hosted the event and we all enjoyed an afternoon of good food and wine and relaxed conversation, happy to know that we did not have to cook, and we were raising money for WILPF.
On Sunday 14th May we held a Book and CD Sale. Guests were offed tea and home baking and browsed and purchased from our substantial book and CD collection.
These two events kicked off the Orpington branch fundraising for the 2015 celebration of WILPF’s centenary. We have set ourselves the target of raising £500 between now and April 2015. A few more relaxed Sunday lunches should do the trick!
So far we have raised over £200 for the centenary fund and £100 to support the work of our interns in the office.
Members who don’t have a nearby branch can of course send individual donations earmarked for centenary fund or for current campaigning or for the office account as they wish.
