How We Work

UK Activities

WILPF in the UK are involved with a number of local, national and international campaigns. Members work through branches, as individuals and in co-operation with other organisations to further WILPF's vision.

We lobby the Government, not only in times crisis, but on an ongoing basis, on issues related to our aims.

We campaign on priority Programme areas, agreed at the UK Annual General Meeting, in line with WILPF International recommendations.

We hold events locally and organise at least one national public event annually.

We network with a range of organisations that share our vision and work collaboratively.

UK Organisation

UK WILPF is run on an entirely voluntary basis by members working in their own homes.

Fundraising is carried out by members. This constitutes the majority of our income. We seek funds to carry out specific projects.

The Executive Committee meets regularly to plan and co-ordinate activities and seeks information, advice and support from Branches and individual members.

There are several Branches in the UK and other members work either individually or together in regional groups.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) provides an opportunity for members to come together to share information and experience and enables the agreement of priority campaigns in accordance with the current International  objectives. An Annual Report is published.

Our newsletter 'Peace and Freedom Update' is published several times a year and is a valuable source of information for members. We also publish reports and occassional papers

WILPF members also communicate using the WILPF News Group, an email facility enabling a clear and timely flow of information.

UK members network with other organisations to ensure an effective two-way flow of information and to offer a gender perspective on discussions and activities.
